The role of the Youth Worker:


  • assisting young people with challenging behaviour at school to become more aware of their personal, social, cultural and political skills through non formal and informal education and thus creating equal opportunities for them and encourage them to value learning
  • developing strategies and deliver a youth work programme with young people whilst building effective relationship of trust
  • identifying and respond to young people’s needs and encourage their participation in school and the wider community
  • coordinating activities for the identified group of young people according to their needs
  • assisting students reintegrate into schools
  • contributing towards the development of an ethos that encourages and supports good behaviour
  • assisting in the development and nurture of an enabling school culture that embodies values, respect and responsibility to encourage young people to become empowered for positive action
  • to plan and implement interventions that support students’ reintegration into the mainstream
