The role of the School Psychologist

Mr Stanley Zammit

The school psychologist works towards promoting a healthy psycho-educational environment that facilitates the learning and overall development of school age children. This is achieved through the following:

  • Discussion of concerns about a student’s development & learning with the student, legal guardian & school personnel.
  • Identification of needs, psychological, emotional, behavioural, educational or social.
  • Presentation and explanation of findings to the family.
  • Supporting and advising regarding intervention, in collaboration with the student, legal guardians and school personnel.

Referral for the services of the school psychologist requires parental consent.
